If you’re working through a recruitment agency or on a short-term contract, you still have legal rights. Here’s what you need to know about your protections as a temp worker.
Right to Equal Treatment
After 12 weeks in the same role, you’re entitled to the same basic conditions as permanent staff—this includes pay, rest breaks, and holiday allowance.
Holiday Pay
Even as a temp, you’re entitled to paid holiday leave. This is typically calculated based on the number of hours you work.
National Minimum Wage
You must be paid at least the legal minimum wage—regardless of your employment type.
Safe Working Conditions
Your employer is responsible for your health and safety. If you feel unsafe, you have the right to raise concerns without fear of retaliation.
Working Hours
You can’t be forced to work more than 48 hours per week (unless you’ve signed an opt-out agreement).
Tip:
Always check your contract and clarify terms with your agency. If you’re unsure, KRN Recruitment can help guide you through your rights.
